Langtang Valley Trek is the perfect trek for the beginners who have no idea where to begin and the veterans looking for something different. Through dense forests filled with pine, oak, and blooming rhododendron, we head upwards right at the foot of the Himalayas. Experiencing the unique culture of the Tamang people can be a culturally and historically enriching experience as the traditions and ways of life have been passed down from generation to generation and kept away from the traps of modernization. Although close to the city the rich ecosystem is maintained and the heartwarming hospitality of the locals despite their own troubles is certainly inspiring.
We begin our trek to Langtang Valley with a 7-hour ride to the town of Syabrubeshi. Through the winding roads out of Kathmandu and right beside the raging Trishuli the journey is pleasantly calming. The stunning hilly landscapes shine on the horizon as we begin our trek towards the hamlet of Briddhim. The trail steadily climbs towards Kyanjin Gompa crossing Lama Hotel and Langtang village before following the eastern banks of Langtang River. At 3830m, the Gompa boasts the wealth of cultural and historical artifacts showcasing the ancient teaching of Buddhists. Close to the Tibetan border, the impact of Tibetan Culture is evident in the dialect, traditions, and way of life of the locals. The summit of TserkoRi awaits us at 4984m surrounded by the mesmerizing sights of the Himalayas. The early morning sun creeps slowly upwards amidst the snowcapped peaks illuminating Langtang Lirung (7,227m) to the west, Yala Peak (5,500m) to the north, Dorje Lakpa (6,966m) and Shishapangma (8,013m) to the east and Ganja La Pass to the west.
