Tamang Heritage Trail trek itinerary begins from Syabrubensi after a scenic drive from Kathmandu. Then it heads towards Tatopani, Thuman, Timure, Rasuwagadhi, Briddhim and ends at Syabrubensi. It passes through traditional Tamang villages like Goljung, Gatlang, Nagthali, and Briddhim where the culture, traditions and the way of life of the people have remained unchanged since the beginning of the settlement. The trekkers are accepted into villages and homes with open arms by hospitable locals where you can have the opportunity to immerse in their daily lives, learning about their local customs, traditions, and rituals. The region also heavily reflects the fascinating Tibetan history and the dominance of Tibetan culture. The trail also passes through Tatopani (a natural hot spring), and the historical fort of Rasuwagadhi.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)
After your arrival in Kathmandu, will be received by our company representative and transferred to the selected hotel. Welcome dinner is held in the hotel and a short brief about your trip is given. Stay overnight in the hotel with breakfast basis.
Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Sybrubensi (1503m) by local bus/7-8 hours
We will head north from Kathmandu to Sybrubensi which will be a 7/8 hour scenic drive by bus or Land Cruiser (depending on group size), after an early breakfast. The condition of the road often depends on the monsoon season and some parts may even be sealed. We will travel via Betrawati, Dhunche and Trishuli Bazaar where the hydroelectricity project was completed by the Indian Technical Mission. You can catch a sight of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills while passing along the roads at the bank of Trishuli River. Finally, we will drive on to Sybrubensi and spend a night there in a lodge/guesthouse in Syabrubeshi.
Day 3: Trek from Sybrubensi to Gatlang 2238m/4-5 hours
The trek starts as we take a grubby winding trail to Bahundanda and then down to the Tamang settlement of Gatlang. We will hike through the Goljung Village enjoying views of the Shishapangma (8013m), Ganesh Himal (7422m), and Langtang Lirung (7227m) and others. We will also come across the village of Chaurhattar and after a few more hours of trekking from there, we will reach Gatlang. Overnight stay at lodge/guesthouse in Gatlang.
Day 4: Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani 2607m/5-6 hours
We will continue our trek by descending to Thambuchet, near Chilime village by the Bhotekoshi River, and witness splendid views of the Ganesh and Langtang Ranges along the way. After Chilime, we continue until we reach Tatopani. Tatopani literally signifies ‘hot water’, where one can bathe in the natural hot springs. It is believed that the waters have a healing quality that relieves your aches and pains. Overnight stay at lodge/guesthouse in Tatopani.
Day 5: Trek from Tatopani to Thuman (2338m) via Nagthali Ghyang 3165m/5-6 hours
The trekking trail will start by ascending to Nagthali Ghyang (3165m), which was once used as a popular meditation center for the local monks and priests. It is the highest pass of the area, which offers panoramic views of snow-covered Langtang, and Ganesh Ranges. Then, we descend down to Thuman, a heavily Tibetan influenced Tamang village. Overnight stay at lodge/guesthouse in Thuman.
Day 6: Trek from Thuman to Timure (1762m) and explore Rasuwagadhi 1814m/4-5 hours
The trek begins along a flatter section of trail and then descends to Timure. It follows part of the ancient salt trade route to Tibet, and although Tibet is not far away-just three hours’ walk, it is not possible to walk across the border. After a short rest, we will hike around Rasuwagadhi, a historical war location which lies at the Nepal-Tibet border. Then we follow the trail to Timure. Overnight stay at lodge/guesthouse in Timure.
Day 7: Trek from Timure to Briddhim 2229m/5-6 hours
From Timure, we walk through rhododendron forests and meadows and trek towards Briddhim, another Tibetan influenced Tamang village located at the bottom of Langtang Himal. The village is known for its homestay culture which gives us a glimpse of the Tamang lifestyle and culture. The locals often gather in the evening to welcome the visitors in their traditional costumes and perform cultural songs and dance. We can also visit Dukchu Monastery there. Overnight stay at lodge/guesthouse in Briddhim.
Day 8: Trek from Briddhim to Sybrubensi 1503m/4-5 hours
On the last day of our trek, we descend towards Sybrubensi for about 3 hours via Wangyal. The trail goes along meadows, cultivated fields, pine and rhododendron forests accompanied by magnificent views of Langtang Lirung (7227m) and Ganesh Himal (7422m). On the way, we bid farewell to the Tamang villages and mountains in the Langtang region. Overnight stay at lodge/guesthouse in Sybrubensi.
Day 9: Drive from Sybrubensi to Kathmandu by local bus/7-8 hours
We will drive back to Kathmandu from Sybrubensi in a local bus. We will drive through same rough road till Trishuli. We will reach Kathmandu in about 7/8 hours enjoying the beautiful views of mountains, massive hills, rivers along the way. You will be transferred to the hotel and rest for the day. Overnight stay at a hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu.
Day 10: Departure from Kathmandu
Our representative will drop you to Tribhuvan International Airport approximately 3 hours before your flight schedule. We certainly hope that you enjoyed the Tamang Heritage Trail Trek and look forward to seeing you for another adventure soon.
