Description

Rara Lake Trek is one of the most adventurous and incredible treks in the far northwest region of Nepal. The lake is situated at the height of 2980 meters from the sea-level in an isolated and pristine environment. Rara Lake Trekking Route traverses the most remote areas in the country which remain far from the touch of modern luxuries. An ideal trek for those aspiring to unravel the pristine nature, the trail is full of delightful scenes of the enchanting Himalayas and offers serenity to a degree none can dare to even compare to.

Rara Lake Trekking is a beautiful and relatively off-the-beaten-path trekking route in Nepal located in the Mugu District of the Karnali Zone and Rara Lake is the largest lake in Nepal and offers stunning views with its pristine blue waters surrounded by snow-capped peaks.

Trek to Rara Lake is challenging and is mostly along the off beaten routes which reward us with the spectacular scenery of the high peaks covered with snow. Our journey of Rara Lake Trek Itinerary starts with the scenic flight to the warm tropic city of Nepalgunj. Nepalgunj is considered as the gateway for many trekking trails of Karnali region. We will take a short sweeping flight to Jumla from where our trekking starts to Rara Lake. We begin the trek as we head to Danphe Lagna on the first day. Passing Chautha, we reach Dhotu as we get close to the lake. With enchanting Himalayan country throughout the trek, we explore the magnificent Rara Lake. After having our fill of the calm environment around the lake, we descend to Jaljala via Sinja. The trek finally culminates as we fly to Nepalgunj and then to Kathmandu. All along the trek, the trails pass through the narrow rocky paths, unique villages of Hindu Thakuri and Malla tribes following a distinct culture and blissful lake environment. Walk along these trail rewards us with the stunning views of the mountains of this region. This incredibly beautiful lake is preserved by Rara National Park which is one of the smallest park having least diversities of floras and faunas as compared to the other parks in Nepal but still we may get a chance to view some of the endangered animals like musk deer, leopards, Ghoral, Thar, Himalayan black bear, and the rare red panda.
