Description

Situated to the north of Annapurna Massif, Nar Phu valley trek, one of the recently opened trekking routes, features the hidden valleys of Nar and Phu along the off-beaten trails. A special permit is required to visit Nar and Phu valley so as to preserve the beauty of these areasby maintaining a limited influx of tourists. Nar Phu Valley and Tilicho Lake trek are one of the best treks featuring the wild and undiscovered areas of Nepal. It offers with the breathtaking views of the mountain massifs, unique Tibetan Lifestyle, natural diversities, and picturesque villages. The trek highlights the verdant landscapes, majestic Tilicho Lake- also the highest lake in the world, and also the Kang-La pass which is at the height of 5322m.

The journey to Nar Phu Valley and Tilicho Lake starts from a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syange and then we will trek to Jagat. From Jagat, the trek proceeds towards Koto after passing Khotro on the way. From Koto, we trek northwards to Meta and then make a stop at Phu valley. The valley has preserved its ancestral heritages with a great deal of care and attention. Naar valley too embraces the practice and the culture here is still untainted. Making way to Manang, we are greeted by numerous monasteries from where the trek heads to Tilicho Base Camp. After witnessing the majestic lake and the views that it offers, we follow the trail to Jomsom and conclude the trip with a flight to Pokhara. It is one of the most exciting and amazing trekking journeys in Annapurna region. We will cross two high passes like Kang-La (5322m) and Mesokanto-La (5200 m) featuring many snow-capped mountain views. Along with the natural beauty, this region also conserves its spiritual and traditional values.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu 1300m
On your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will transfer you to the hotel in Thamel for refreshment. If you want we will show you some near place around Thamel and we will brief you about the trek plan with a short introduction program in our office. In the evening we will return back to the hotel and then stay overnight at the hotel in Thamel.

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Syange 1100m and trek to Jagat 1300m
It is a long day drive of about 8-9 hours from Kathmandu to reach Syange. The path rewards us with the stunning views of the Himalayas and lush green valleys. We will initially head towards the Besisahar where we will take our lunch and continue to follow the dusty road towards Syange. On reaching Syange, we will start to trek to Jagat. An easy and a short hike will lead us the Jagat. Overnight stay at Jagat.

Day 3: Trek from Jagat to Dharapani 1860m
It will be our first day of trekking and we will commence our trek through a dense forest descending to a large suspension bridge leading us to Manang district. From here, the trail mostly passes through the farmlands of maize, barley, rice, and potatoes and continues through the dense forests taking us to the famous Khotro village.We will continue to ascend along the dense forests to reach Dharapani. Overnight stay at Dharapani

Day 4: Trek from Dharapani to Koto 2600m
Today, our trail will mostly follow the forested area leading us to Bagarchhap which is famous for its whitewashed monastery. We visit the monastery and then we will continue along the trail ascending steeply to Timang from where we can enjoy the beautiful panoramic mountain views of Lamjung and Annapurna massif. Again continuing along the trail we will reach our destination Koto. Overnight stay at Koto.

Day 5: Trek from Koto to Meta 3560m
We need to get the permit so we will complete the registration process and then we will head along the bank of Naar Khola. Continuing along the trail, we will enter the forest area and then we will cross many suspension bridges and small streams until we will reach Dharmasala. Enjoying the beautiful views, we will climb steeply towards Meta village. Overnight stay at Meta.

Day 6: Trek from Meta to Phu 4100m
It will be a long walk to Phu.We will continue to walk along the trail sometime ascending and then descending to the suspension bridges over small streams. On our way, we will cross a huge Chorten and then we will walk through the forest area until reaching the Mahendra Pul. We will head towards the high plateau of Kyang. After a short break, we will continue to walk until we will reach Phu village. Overnight stay at Phu village.

Day 7: Exploration Day
Today we will rest at Phu. After a long walk, we need to take rest and acclimatize ourselves to the Phu is thinning of the air at this altitude. Phu is a beautiful village inhabited by the mixed ethnic groups like Gurung, Ghale, and Tibetans. We will get a chance to know about their culture, tradition, and lifestyle. We will also visit the monastery called Tashi Lhakhang Monastery, which was the last monastery built by Karmapa Rinpoche. Stay overnight at Phu.

Day 8: Trek from Phu to Nar 4110m
Leaving behind Phu village, we will head toward Nar. The trail will be descending to the suspension bridges over the small streams which will take us to Mahendra Pul. We will then slowly climb to the ascending trail crossing many Mani walls, chortens and stupas to finally reach Nar. We need to cross the entrance gate of Naar which is a masterpiece reflecting the Buddhist culture. We can get beautiful views of Pisang peak (6091m) from here. Overnight stay at Nar.

Day 9: Trek from Nar to Ngawal 3660m via Kang La Pass 5322m
Leaving the beautiful and ancient village Nar behind, we will continue along the trail which will lead us to the second entrance gate and it is the entrance gate of Jhombu Kharka which is also popularly known as Kanga Phedi. We will continue further along the landslide areas and climb steeply to Ngawal village. Overnight stay at Ngawal.

Day 10: Trek from Ngawal to Manang 3540m
We will descend steeply to Manang. From Ngawal, the trail heads through numerous monasteries. Braka Gompa, a 900 years old monastery, will welcome you to the Manang.You also see Boozo Gompa a short while after passing Braka Gompa. It is the main village of Manang village and has almost all the basic facilities. In the evening we will visit the village.Overnight stay at Manang.

Day 11: Trek from Manang to Thare Gompa 3900m
Leaving behind Manang we will head toward Thare Gompa. The trail is mostly ascending along the landslide areas which will take us to Khangsar. Appreciating and enjoying the beautiful mountain views like Annapurna range, Tilicho Peak (7134m), Gangapurna Himal (7454m), and other snowy peaks, we will reach Thare Gompa. Overnight stay at Thare Gompa.

Day 12: Trek from Thare Gompa to Tilicho Base Camp 4150m
We will continue to climb along the slippery moraines and sometime we will cross the landslide areas before reaching Shiri Kharka. From Shiri Kharka we will head further and climb steeply to Tilicho Base Camp. We cross Tho River and landslide-prone areas on the way. Enjoying the beautiful mountain views we will camp at the proper place. Overnight stay at Tilicho Base Camp.

Day 13: Trek from Tilicho Base Camp to Tilicho Lake 4920m
Today, we will head towards the most awaited destination of ours, the pristine lake, Tilicho. We will climb steeply through the slippery moraine. We will climb along the Annapurna Glacier to reach the mesmerizing Tilicho Lake. It is the world’s highest lake according to its size. Enjoying the views of the surrounding Himalayas we will reach Tilicho Lake.Overnight stay at Tilicho Lake.

Day 14: Trek from Tilicho Lake to Kaisang/Yak Kharka 3510m
We will mostly trek along the icy narrow paths ascending and descending along the valleys to reach Kaisang also known as Yak Kharka. We pass Mesokanto pass and Chauri Kharka en route to Kaisang. The mountain views of Annapurna range, Tilicho (7134m), Dhaulagiri (8167m) along with numerous other mountains mesmerize us with their beauty. Overnight stay at Yak Kharka.

Day 15: Trek from Kaisang to Jomsom 2720m
This will be our last day of the trek and we will mostly descend along the forested areas to Jomsom. It is one of the trading hubs of theMustang region. Enjoying the beautiful mountain views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges in the backdrop, we will reach Jomsom. At Jomsom, we can celebrate the success of the trip with local apple brandy called Marpha.Overnight stay at Jomsom.

Day 16: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara 820m
In the early morning after having our breakfast we will walk to Jomsom airport and catch a scenic flight to Pokhara. On reaching Pokhara we will check-in a hotel and take some rest. If time permits, we can also visit the famous tourist attractions in and around the city. In the evening we will walk across the Pokhara market.Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 17: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist bus
This will be our last day of the journey. On finishing our breakfast we will travel in the tourist bus to Kathmandu. A scenic drive for about 6-7 hours along the highway will take us to Kathmandu. On reaching Kathmandu we will transfer you to the hotel in Kathmandu and roam around the local market to shop for souvenirs. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 18: Departure from Kathmandu
This is your final day in Nepal. After finishing your breakfast our representative will drop you to the Tribhuvan International airport for your scheduled flight bidding you the final goodbye.
