The 9-day Kathmandu Rim Valley Trekking starts off with a visit around the Kathmandu Valley. This short tour heads to some of the most prominent cultural and religious hubs within the valley including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Swayambhunath. Additionally, these destinations are also UNESCO enlisted world heritage sites. A short drive on the following day takes you to the trailhead of the trek at Sundarijal. Trekkers enter the forested trail and make uphill climb along rhododendron forests and a plethora of wildlife. Entering the Shivapuri National Park, the trip gets even more adventurous as you follow stone steps and uneven trail all the way to Chisapani. Chisapani is a Sherpa village and one of the famous viewpoints around the Kathmandu Valley. The trek continues through the national park as you enjoy the biodiversity and Himalayan company. Heading southeast from Chisapani, you trek through Tamang settlements to reach Nagarkot. Another darling getaway for those in the Kathmandu Valley, Nagarkot is best known for mesmerizing sunrise and sunset views. You resume the journey as you trek all the way to Dhulikhel and visit one of the revered monasteries in Namobuddha. This monastery is highly regarded by Buddhists and even has a legend of Lord Buddha’s incarnation that led to its establishment. The trip takes a cultural turn as you head to the Newar hub of Balthali. Another short trek to Khopasi is followed by a return to Kathmandu Valley which concludes the trip.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu 1350m
On your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our representative. Next, you’ll be taken to your hotel and will get a short description of the trek by our guide. You will prepare for the trek and enjoy delicious dinner hosted by the company. Overnight at Hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Guided Sightseeing tour to Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Pashupatinath by private car
Today will be a short sightseeing tour of the major UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Firstly, you’ll be taken to Swayambhunath, a Buddhist stupa. You can have a nice view of the valley from Swayambhunath. You can also get some knowledge about its history and you can study its ancient architecture too. Next, you’ll head to Boudhanath which is another big Buddhist stupa. The architecture is a bit different than previous and there is no scenery to view but the environment is pretty lively and religious. Lastly, you’ll drive to Pashupatinath, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. You’ll explore the temple near the holy Bagmati River and then return back to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu.

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani
Early morning, you’ll drive to Sundarijal after having breakfast. Your trek starts as you reach Sundarijal, from where you head towards Chisapani. You’ll trek through the Shivapuri National Park and watershed. From the top of Shivapuri hill, you can observe panoramic views of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, and Gaurishankar ranges. The trail continues uphill through forests to reach a Tamang based village, Mulkharka. After passing Borlang Bhanjyang, you’ll head downhill towards Chisapani. This Sherpa village is also known to offer scenery of Langtang, Ganesh, and Gaurishankar ranges. Overnight stay at hotel/guesthouse in Chisapani.

Day 4: Trek from Chisapani to Nagarkot
After breakfast, you continue your trek to Nagarkot. The trail goes downwards passing through villages and forests on the way. You get a great view of the countryside along with the mountains from Nagarkot. Sunrise and sunset from Nagarkot are the main attractions of this trek. After walking for 4 hours through the slippery terrain, we reach Nagarkot. There is a view tower here which is worth a visit. On a clear day, you can catch glimpses of Langtang Lirung (7227m), Jugal (6247m),DorjeLakpa(6966m), and Ganesh Himal (6422m). Overnight stay at hotel in Nagarkot.

Day 5: Trek from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel
You wake up early to view the spectacular sunshine from the top of Nagarkot. Along with the sunrise, you also get mesmerizing views of the Himalayas in Langtang, Gaurishankar, Rolwaling, Jugal, and even the Everest ranges. After breakfast in Nagarkot, you trek downwards the hill and head to Dhulikhel. Passing the traditional hamlets and forests you get to Rhonnie Bhanjyang. Continue along Tusang and Opi to reach Dhulikhel. It is an ancient Newari settlement which acts as a great place to learn the Newari culture. Overnight stay hotel in Dhulikhel.

Day 6: Trek from Dhulikhel to Namobuddha
After viewing the sunrise from the top of Dhulikhel hill and watching the beautiful mountain ranges, you start your trek from Dhulikhel to Namobuddha. We walk through a Mahadev temple and climb uphill to Kavrekot. Cross the Kali temple to arrive at Namobuddha. This is a Buddhist monastery which has a strong history that dates back to thousands of years. The origin of the monastery is related to a legend that states Lord Buddha’s incarnation as a prince sacrificed his life in order to save a hungry tigress and her cubs. It is also a great place to meditate. Overnight stay at hotel in Namobuddha.

Day 7: Trek from Namobuddha to Balthali
After breakfast, you head down to the Balthali village. It lies between two rivers that are Roshi and Ladhku. You can explore the green hill along with amazing viewsof sunrise and sunset. The houses are built in traditional pagoda style as well as simple ones. You explore the surrounding and view the sunset. The Newari lifestyle and cultural practices certainly are a feast to the eyes. Overnight stay hotel in Balthali.

Day 8: Trek from Balthali to Khopasi and drive to Kathmandu with a private car
The trek is reaching its end and today, you head to Khopasi. You will make go through the Ladkeshor Mahadev temple and passing Sanagaun you’ll reach Khopasi. This quaint settlement comprises of people of Newari community. After lunch, you’ll drive back to Kathmandu. You can take a walk around the city or rest. You will have a farewell dinner and rest the remaining day. Overnight stay hotel with breakfast  in Kathmandu.

Day 9: Departure to International Airport according to flight schedule
You will have breakfast and will be dropped to the Tribhuvan International Airport for your scheduled flight.
